Foundations in Disability and Community Support


This entry level training course is designed for new and existing employees who are working with people with disabilities.  The Foundations course provides a brief overview of the many topics and issues with which employees need to become knowledgeble as they begin or continue their career in the disability field.


Students will recognize the value of providing services that are value based, respectful of individuals and their rights, and consistent with the Vulnerable Persons Legislation of Manitoba.  They will also gain knowledge of the overall service delivery system and the role they and the agency play in the service delivery system.


Course Material Focuses: Introduction to Disability and Community Support, Values and Attitudes, Communication with others, The Supports and Services Network, Planning with People, Learning and Teaching, Protection, Violence and Abuse, Health and Personal Assisting

  • Each student must sign an agreement stating enVision Community Living will reimbursed if the employee is not successful, quits the coursem or misses more than 2 classes.
